"Doug, I wanted to
say thanks again for the workshop. I believe instructors
need three things: knowledge, personality and a
sense of humor. To your great credit, you are one of the few who have all three…"

“Doug’s
ability to help you understand exactly
how to develop, design, and deliver a presentation
is nothing short of incredible.
It is the best investment I’ve ever made
into my professional training and development.
I
highly recommend Doug and
PublicSpeakingSkills.com.”

J. Douglas Jefferys [PHILADELPHIA]
Doug Jefferys' diverse background includes the automotive industry, manufacturing, global marketing,
& information technology. A Microsoft Certified
Professional,
Doug began his platform-training career in 1981 with Commodore Business Machines.
At Commodore, Doug was challenged to present what was then a hobbyist's concept - the PC - as a viable
new consumer product. To best showcase features and functionality, Doug learned BASIC and built from
scratch what would be one of the first on-screen presentations.
Fully 10 years before Windows, Doug was helping to create the ground rules for successful computer-based
presentation techniques. Today, in addition to training thousands of satisfied participants in proper public
speaking skills, Doug continues to develop and edit dynamic on-screen presentations for top executives at
many Fortune 500 companies.
One
of Doug’s greatest skills is helping people to build
confidence in just being themselves when speaking to a
group.
With a coaching style that is based on straight talk
and proper doses of humor, Doug is known for getting
participants to freely give their maximum in a
non-intimidating way.
Technical types often comment that their sessions
were the first time they felt good talking to people’s
faces instead of to their shoes!
(Doug comes from a family of engineers, so he
knows…)
Doug leads viewers through the
art of presentation delivery and presentation design in two
feature-length DVD's, Killer Presentation Skills (2007)
and Conquering Death by PowerPoint (2005). Doug's latest book, ...And
Your Point Is? - How to Stop Killing Your Clients with
PowerPoint Poisoning and Create Presentations that Provoke and
Persuade, was released in October,
2006. This entertaining look at the state of
business presentations today, and what you can do to improve the
breed, is also a great primer on one of Doug's passions, namely
good design. It's available at all online booksellers and here.
At 29, Doug pursued a unique career-path change, joining the U.S. Army and enrolling in helicopter flight
school. He is now an avid fixed-wing pilot, and in keynote speeches
shares his "late-life" basic training experience and the challenges he overcame to achieve
his goals.
